In order to maintain a healthy and happy smile, we believe it’s extremely important to keep up with your routine dental cleanings.  By professionally removing built up plaque and bacteria with the help of your hygienists, your teeth can stay strong during the time in between your appointments along with your daily brushing and flossing. We highly recommend that you visit our office for routine cleanings every six months.
How it’s done
Most dental cleanings last between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your individual dental health. One of our trained hygienists will come in and perform the cleaning and your family dentist in Victoria TX will either come in before or after the cleaning for an exam. Dental exams and cleanings are virtually painless and don’t cause any discomfort.
There are two important steps to a professional dental cleaning – scaling and polishing. During the scaling, our hygienist will remove the plaque and tartar from the tooth surfaces that has built up and intends to damage your smile. If needed, our hygienist will also clean the pockets of the gums to remove any sort of plaque build-up there, as well.
The second step of polishing requires the removal of any final plaque that could be lingering and buffing the teeth. The polishing can get to the hard-to-reach places with the different sized heads available at our disposal.
