Did you know that dental veneers are commonly worn and praised by your favorite celebrities that you see on television? This cosmetic service applies thin, custom-made shells that cover the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. This treatment is fast, simple, and incredibly efficient!
Dental veneers have the ability to improve the color of your teeth that have been worn down, faded and stained. They can also improve the shape and size of your teeth if you’re uncomfortable with the way your smile looks.
Types of veneers
There are two types of veneers available—composite resin veneers and porcelain veneers. If you choose composite resin, then they can be applied directly to your teeth without having to wait for a dental laboratory to make and ship them. Unfortunately, this option has a shorter life span, but they are less expensive. Your other option is porcelain veneers, which are more durable and resist stains better. The material also helps create a natural look to your smile. They’re hand-crafted in a dental laboratory to make your smile look as natural as possible.
When should you consider dental veneers?
Let us know that you’re interested in veneers if your teeth are/have:
• Crooked or misshapen
• Gaps or spaces
• Chipped or broken
How it’s done
Typically, two visits are required for your porcelain veneers. During your first visit, your teeth are prepared to be fitted with a veneer – this may involve trimming a portion of your tooth so the veneer can be properly bonded on top and fully cover the surface to make it look natural. After that, an impression is taken of your teeth so it can be sent to the dental laboratory and they can create the veneer. Depending on the reshaping and trimming, you may be sent home with a temporary veneer to make your smile look natural until the laboratory sends back your permanent veneer.
If you’ve received a temporary veneer, it will be removed at your second visit. The new, porcelain veneer is prepared and will be checked to see if it fits well. All adjustments will be made before the veneer is bonded to your tooth, including making sure that you’re comfortable with the fit, the look, and the feel.
